Top Ten Tips For Online Success
Welcome to NewbieReport.com
It’s my goal to provide you with tips, strategies that will help you generate an online income, while saving you time and money in the process.
In this first post I thought the best approach would be a Top Ten List..
So here are the Top Ten Tips I think you need to be successful online.

1. Your Own Domain Name – Essential
The name should be relevant to your niche and for branding purposes you should keep it catchy, short, and try to avoid hyphenated words.. They can be good for SEO, but not much else..
Pick a Niche that you know and are passionate about.
You should never spend more than $10 a year for a domain, and if you’re paying more than $10 now, you should transfer it to another Registrar.
My recommendation GoDaddy

2. A Good Webhost
You should look for a domain host who offers Cpanel and Fantastico and has a good reputation. I’ve been a domain host for over 8 years so if you want to host with me all you have to do is ask..
My recommendation: Hostgator

3. Use WordPress to Design Your Site.
It’s free has a short learning curve and unlimited flexibility, plus there’s 100′s of free templates which you can add to your site in minutes.
I design all my sites with it now.

4. Start Building a Mailing List.
This is the secret of every successful marketer..
“You know the ones you keep buying from because you’re on their list.”
Write up a free report with valuable info and give it away to people who join your list. Create an autoresponder series which emails your list every 4-7 days…
I highly recommend Aweber they’ve got a two-tier affiliate program too.

5. Write quality original content for your site.. Create Value..
Do not post articles from other sites on your site. You could end up with a duplicate content penalty on your site and you’ll never get ranked in Google..
If you can write an email or a forum post you can write original content for your site.. Write content that solves problems or truly informs…
By the same token getting your articles published on other sites is a good thing… when you write an article for your site, rewrite it and then submit it to Article sites…

6. Learn everything you can about Natural or Organic Traffic.
Bookmark this page… and read the articles… Use a Notepad and take notes.. then begin implementing..
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
7. Build Quality and Relevant Backlinks.
Don’t waste time getting links on junk sites.. when you do link exchanges always make sure the link directory is linked to the owner’s main page.. Check the robots.txt file on the site to see if the owner hasn’t blocked his link directory..
Some link schemes work, most don’t, or won’t in the future… See #6 for more info.

8. Learn from the Top Marketers
Want to get top listings for your keywords…
Goto Google.. see whose #1.. View the source of their page to check out their meta tags and use link popularity tools to see how many backlinks they have..
Then start working towards getting more then they have…
You can learn copywriting, site design, contextual ad placement, lead generation techniques simply by seeing what the top people are doing..
Look at Headlines… paragraph structure… special offers..
How many email lists are you on? When you get a compelling email from a “guru” focus on what’s compelling about it..
Are they weaving a story?
Are they putting personal info in it?
Are they word wrapping?
Using lots of paragraphs?
Are they making their offers time-sensitive?
They are all using formats that are tried and tested.. They almost all do the same thing… Because it works!
Take some of their emails and see if you can weave a story around your experiences, and your offers..
If you can afford it.. Outsource these tasks to professionals..

9. Beware of Hype..
I’m a victim of this as well..and get sucked into a lot of opportunities… but I do it because I almost always learn something from it..
Before you join anything online.. do a Google search on the principals and the company… Check out the competition…
Make sure there is real value in the product or service..
There’s a lot of great opportunities out there… but they all require focus effort and commitment..

10. Have a Strategy and Work that Strategy
I keep a legal pad on my desk and each day I write down everything I need to get accomplished as well as daily tasks I try to do each day.
Your daily tasks can be as simple as this…
1. Read and Organize Email – 30 Minutes
2. Get 5 Quality Backlinks – 10 Minutes
3. Write a quality post or Article – 30 Minutes
4. Visit Forums and make posts (with sig line) – 15 Minutes
You will be amazed at how much work you can get done when you work with a todo list in front of you..

[...] 10 Biggest Newbie Mistakes [...]
Hi Dan,
I must say your article here just got the 1st place in my browser’s eBooks tools shortcuts ! It just beat the previous number one (which I’m ashamed to say is also yours, as I feel I steal everything from your great and realistic ideas : 10 Biggest Newbie Mistakes ). When you are lost as I was when I started out, these posts are a real great starting point. Read carefully, and if there’s something you don’t understand yet, get into it as each point is crucial !
Top 10 do’s : Do them one after the other, in order (helps you get organized)
Top 10 don’ts : Avoid them at all time (helps get away from so-called internet marketing’s “Gurus” lies)
In my eyes, once your business is set up, the most important (the number ONE reason most people FAIL) … is to PROMOTE your site, building backlinks with quality links exchange, articles and posts. So don’t be fooled by this tip’s number 10 place, it’s at the end because in the following order it will be the last thing you do, but on the importance level, regarding internet marketing : IT’S NUMBER ONE !!
To keep motivation up, do it in a subject you LOVE, as writing won’t be “work” anymore, and you’ll have fun promoting your business on and on (the benefits are cumulative !)
Cheers guys, keep the motivation, it WILL happen if you play by the rules !
Excuse my english mistakes if any, I’m french speaking ^^
Fred.
PS : If I had known about the bootcamp when I started quite a while ago, it would have spared me quite an amount of time & money. 22$ ? Ridiculous. XD
If I were a brighter man – I’d probably write a dissertation. But I think I’ll be better off if just get busy. Great Stuff.
